Janet Micari
Adjunct Instructor

 

Janet Micari is an experienced, dedicated art educator with more than 15 years of experience in grades K-8 in both private and public schools in Fairfax County. Janet received a Bachelor of Art Degree in Studio Art from Marymount Manhattan College, N.Y.C. and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. In addition to her current teaching assignment at Orange Hunt Elementary School in Springfield, VA, Janet works with the Fairfax County Public Schools Fine Arts Office as Elementary Art Lead Mentor. Mrs. Micari has also been a coach for six years in the FCPS Great Beginnings Program which included teaching Fairfax Academy courses for first and second year art teachers. Mrs. Micari has presented at the Virginia Art Education Association Conferences (VAEA), the National Council of Social Studies Convention, the Virginia Council of Social Studies Conference, as well as the VIrgina Reading and Literacy Conference on integrating the arts. She was the recipient of the VAEA Northern Region Elementary Art Teacher of the Year award for 2007; nominated in 2001 for the Fairfax County Teacher of the Year and the Washington Post Agnes Meyer Award.
