Tamra Ferreira is an experienced art educator and administrator who serves currently as the visual art specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools and oversees the K-12 Visual Arts program for a population of over 165,000 students. In her position, she plans and implements in-service training for all levels of art teachers, develops curriculum and assessment models, oversees the development, testing, and selection of art materials, resources, equipment, and technology for use in the visual art program, coordinates the regional Scholastic Art Awards program, and interviews and recommends for hire all art teachers within the county. In addition, Ms. Ferreira is a frequent presenter at state and national art education conferences on a variety of topics including revising curriculum, program expansion, technology in the art room, and rethinking instructional practices.
Ms Ferreira received an administration and supervision endorsement from the University of Virginia in June 2004 and an M.A.E. from VCU in December 2001. She has taught art at the elementary and high school levels, and serves as adjunct instructor for Virginia Commonwealth University and George Mason University.
